Do you have a vision? A vision is power, a purpose, a goal. At Church we were talking about why people go to church. I realized that one reason why people don’t go to church is because it lacks a vision, or it has the wrong version. As Pete Greig says “The vision is JESUS–obsessively, dangerously, undeniably Jesus.” Now if a church doesn’t have a vision that is Jesus, or centered around Jesus, they have nothing. They will go nowhere and influence no one. What about you? Do you have a vision? I have a vision, the vision to influence as many people as I can for Christ. To live like Jesus would. I have dreams about things. An open church were art is loved and accepted and done by all members. I would love to start a church specifically more centered around dance. Rather than having pews, there would be an open dance floor and it would be surrounded by couches. Then on days we weren’t using the church we would let other bands come in and rock! It would be perfect. That is just part of my dream. I have others. Currently my main vision is as simple as “Live for Jesus, uncaring about what others think” Or something to that extent. I just need to work on that vision and keep it in my focus. Get a vision, focus on it, live for it.

Interesting vision. A dance floor in the sanctuary. A dance centered church. An art centered church. What about people who don’t do art? Who don’t enjoy it? Would they be excluded? Or meerly allowed to sit on the side and watch? Is the dance floor just for dance? Or for anyone expressing their love for God in any way?

Anyone could go on it! As for people who don’t do art, they could just come and sit if they wanted, they don’t have to participate, or they can find another church. Basically I see it like churchs are with singing now, but dancing instead, we would sing to, but dance also. I would love it. 2 of the reasons I like my church is because it has a great band and singing, and we are like an art gallery, we always have local artists work in our church. I love looking at it all. At the church that I would create it’s not like we would only have dance things, we would have other things also, music, dance, sermons, baptisms, basically a normal church but more centered around dance while singing and worshiping.

I would tottally go to a dance church thingy! I love love love (x1000000) to praise God through dance.
and I think a dance church thingy would give people the chance to learn to not care about what THEY look like, it doens’t matter, what matters is that you are doing this for God.
No matter how much you CAN’T dance, you look like a angel in God’s eyes, if you have the right intintions that is.
A dance church…. would be awesome..
this reminds me of Costa Rica, we visted a church there. and in the sanctuary there was about… eh A VERY big space betweent the seats, and the stage. I was like “eh” what?!?! what on earth is that for?
As soon as the music started about half of the congregation went up and danced. Some people brought shawls and danced. It was just…. really cool!
Maybe I’ll open a dancing church in Africa
hah
I would love it!

So basically you mean like churches now, only with the freedom of expressing Love for God any way you like encouraged. And a more relaxed setting. I’m liking that. I like the couch idea because it reminds me of the way the deciples likely first met when churches began…

That is soo cool i want a curch like that!! really though that is such a great point. When the curch starts to get off god and just really becomes centered around a building. there is a problem. What do people think of when they here “curch” ?? Generally the first thing is the building. even i do that! i really wanaa just sometime go and have curch outside in the middle of nowhere! just so u can focuse. no distractions. i love it when i get to go do that!!!!
And that is important too. U shouldent care what other people think because heyywe want to set an example for them do we not?? really i mean what does it matter what they think? What does God want???
lol just be his child and the puzzles peices will fall into place

Sign me up! When I went to Houston for this christian dance company’s summer intensive, we had worship every morning, and every morning the aisles were filled with dancers with jeans over their leotards moving, for once, without worrying about technique. It was so powerful.
Hi, by the way, I’m Spencer’s ballerina cousin.

Yes you are! Haha, That sounds awesome! I would love to go to that. I love dance. I’ve really gotten into it lately. I don’t think I’m to shabby for dancing all of about … 3 years. Haha. I’m not near as good as you though. Then again you’ve had a LOT more experience.
