Life
Life has been up and down in the last month. I’ve done a lot of Ebaying. I’ve hung out a lot with Kaitlynn. Our kitchen is getting remodeled. School has had it’s good and bad. Church has been fun, and now…. it’s spring break.
Spring break, full of fun and freedom. Sun and swimming. Friends and family. Well, that’s what it’s supposed to be. For me it means 12 days of Kaitlynn being gone, rain, and catching up on some homework. Hopefully I’ll get out with some friends, go on some bike rides, and a very slight possibility, receive the laptop that was sent to me from Texas from some guy that I bought it from 3 weeks ago.
Speaking of bike rides, I’ve been going on more lately…. more meaning 2. I took a bike ride a week ago on Friday when we didn’t have school. I rode for about an hour and a half. I figured out later (Using Google maps) that my bike ride was about 8 miles. It was quite interesting. When you are in a car, so often you just let the world pass you by, and you don’t comprehend or take it in. When you’re on a bike it’s different. You have more freedom on a bike, you can go places a car can’t, head near things you want to check out and really get up close. That’s what I liked about it. It’s not like I saw anything amazing. I just got to be outdoors in God’s creation with a million other people going about their day. I got to experience life with no intention of having any place to go. It felt good. I got my energy out, I got to view some of God’s creation, but mostly, I got to view the world from another perspective. People become oblivious to their surroundings so often. I do it all the time. Going on the bike ride helped me to take it all in.
Now, our kitchen is getting redone. It’s interesting. That has changed my perspective to. It’s not only let me see different parts of the kitchen. It’s let me change my perspective of the whole house.
Then there is the camera I got. I received it Wednesday. A 4 mega pixel HP Photosmart M22, for $25. Another perspective changer. Ordinary scenes in your everyday life become interesting when viewed in a picture. Train tracks and sunsets become all the much more appealing. The garbage that was left by a homeless person, becomes art. It’s truly amazing what a camera can do.
So through all this I’ve learned to change my perspective. I am trying hard to look at things differently. I have all of Spring break to do it. Hopefully I’ll do it now. Sorry this was such a long post, but I haven’t written in a while. Hopefully I’ll do that more over spring break also.
Letting the World Pass you by
“You don’t watch where you are going”. I was told this recently while walking home. I thought about it for a while. Until I finally realized, I don’t, but I don’t know if that is such a bad thing. See if you constantly focus on where you are going, where you are placing your feet that is, then you don’t ever get to see the world that is on all sides of you. Yes you will keep yourself from stepping in anything, puddles, dog presents, ditches, wet spots, etc. but you never will get to see the tall trees, the wonderful sky, or the flowers planted on the sides. It makes for a rather unenjoyable time.
So basically what I’m saying is. Live life uncaring. Don’t always think ahead to where you are going, where you are placing you foot. Take time to look around you, if you hit that bad spot, oh well. It was worth it. Stepping in a puddle is worth doing every once in a while if you get to see the beauty of the world as payment. So remember don’t always watch where you are going.
What it feels like to die
So as most of you know, and for those of you that don’t know. I have Mono. It really isn’t very fun. It isn’t THAT bad, but definitely not fun. I haven’t felt like I was going to die except for on Tuesday when my mouth was so swollen that I couldn’t breath…..ok maybe that is a little exaggeration. Yes my mouth was swollen, yes I could hardly swallow, but I could breath rather well. I probably wouldn’t have been able to breath if my throat had swollen any more but it didn’t and I’m alive. So it really isn’t that bad.
Apparently though, the virus is more dangerous than I thought. Or at least, according to the get well card I got from people yesterday it is more serious. They think I might die! Well maybe that is just a joke. Either way here is a few things people said to me.
-Not many die from Mono but hey, maybe you will! Just kidding! -Katie Rhodes-
-If you die, I’ll cry. -Dylan-
-I checked… the mortality rate is low. -Joshua-
-Brent will be lonely in dance if you die. -unknown-
-Get well soon (Can I get dibs on the will?) Katie H.
-(on a gravestone) We knew him well. February 29, 2007 -Unknown- - just so whoever wrote this knows there is no February 29, 2007… so it’s a good thing you picked that date!-
-Get well soon. Don’t die! -Jeffery-
and some funny ones
-(Next to a picture of a monkey) This is a monkey with a banana. Eat bananas they’re good for you. -Danica-
-Dance just isn’t the same without you throwing yourself against the wall. -Lisa-
-I just realized I danced with you last night, good thing my character wasn’t a slut. -Amanda-
-I think it’s stupiid we have to make you a sign. Tons of people get mono and they don’t get signs but I guess I hope you get well. -Rebecca-
-And of course the jokes about kissing. I mean wow, that is so original and funny for all 300 of you that said it! Haha. Not. Oh gee. Thanks guys. It was great getting a giant purple poster saying get well from multiple people. I loved it. Hopefully I will be back in school Monday. I don’t think I will be there tomorrow.
p.s. Mono isn’t that bad after the first few days, or at least, it isn’t that bad once you start taking drugs… Sunday was bad, Monday was bad, Tuesday was terrible but past that it has been ok….. maybe that’s just cause I’ve been taking 3 ibuprofens and 500mg Tylenol sore throat drink at the same time. Hmmm. Who knows.
