This is one of my biggest a most ranted about subject ever. The media is annoying. I don’t know how to put it worse. The media is just one big giant mindless blob, run by a few people. In all seriousness I say that. For example, Ipod. They have control of a huge part of media. Take a tally some time, when in school or on a Max train or C-tran. See how many people have an Ipod, and if not an Ipod have at least headphones on. You will be surprised. Millions of people have Ipods and the thing is they aren’t that bad. The thing is though no body does their research. I know many friends of mine didn’t even look into the Mp3 player market for alternatives. All they did was say I want an Ipod, next thing you know it’s their Christmas gift. I find this sad. The media and friends are so controlling teens don’t even use their brain; they don’t try to be different they just buy what is advertised. Now this sometimes works badly, the PSP for example. This thing looked good, but was it? Is it? No. It’s $250 and it can “Play games, Listen to music, even browse the web.” Now the games, I haven’t seen anything fun and different yet. They music, yeah you can but why do you need to when you can get an Ipod. Plus the memorystick which you need to store music is so expensive. Even if you wanted about 20 songs it would cost $20 or something just for the memory. Last but not least, the web browser. Have you ever tried to enter a web address on something using a joystick? It is hard and takes forever. In other words the browser isn’t even worth it.
Converse Shoes. This is one more thing bought for 1 reason only, eveyone else has them and says they are cool. Just like Ipod look around and see how many people are wearing them! It is amazing. Now I’m not saying Converse shoes aren’t cool or aren’t quailty, it’s just teens don’t do research. Brainless buying because of commercials and friends. Not the smartest. I don’t know about you but I know I want to be different. When you see me drinking Starbucks, wearing Converse, owning an Ipod or playing a PSP just know it’s hopeless. Don’t even let me go into the media and it’s obsession with sex. I would be on the subject forever.
-look back later for more on the media and it’s obsession with sex. Just be prepared.-
-La Computadora-
Ok back, but this isn’t about sex. That is still to come. This is about the computer and Instant Messanger. I think that it is a bad influence on everyone. What happened to calling friends and talking? Instant Messanger can ruin things. Friendships, relationships, spread rumors faster, hurt people. I can do a lot. People can’t read you as well, they may think your complementing them when your putting them down. In other words it’s just destroying us. Email is the same way. You can’t tell what people mean exactly. People misinterpret you.
I know lot’s of people that are phone-aphobic. Really, I don’t know if this is a term but it’s true. I think I am slightly, I don’t like using the phone. I would much rather pop up Instant Messanger and IM a friend then call them. It takes the personalitly out of the talk and relationship, almost like your not talking to a person. This way if your telling someone bad news, it is easier to tell. It is harder to recieve and you don’t believe it as well, but it’s easier to tell. All in all Instant Messanger and Email is begging to ruin relationships.
Blogs. This is another subject. Lots of people are unsafe about what they talk about. They use their blog as a personal journal, expecting no one to read it. then when someone does and learns something, it’s not good. People write things they would never tell each other in real life. I do it sometimes. I try not to talk about my life to much, but it happens. The post that I last did, though appearing before “Interesting Thoughts” was only written cause I was asked to. I think from now on I’ll make a new page for my life. Blogs are supposed to be for interesting thoughts or things found on the internet. In the end we need to realize what the computer does to use, what we say and what we do. Be careful.

LOL, wow… that’s pretty good, darn good in fact, i would agree w/ everything EXCEPT starbucks, they’re SO good, but did you know that coffee people in portland are better!? and its better to support local coffe shops instead of chains…. and don’t get me started on clothes… like hollister…

I totally agree about the MP3 player crisis. Ipods are really way to expensive fot what they are, but people buy to fads and its seriously annoying. But… I like my converse =P SO I really don’t care if anyone thinks I’m following a trend. I mean, do material trends really matter? Shouldn’t someone be ‘original’ by their personality?
I dont know.
I agree with you but I disagree.

hmm, and i’m guessing this conclusion came from thew 2 week thing? well you’re right. ther’s no denying that, you really can’t tell what people mean and sometimes it frustrating. And Yes you are one of those phone-aphobic people, rmember are little chat that we had like over a year ago, and your mom was wondering why a girl was calling you? yes you aren’t very good w/ phone conversations…
thats the reason why i don’t post. people get hurt, i’ve been there, people don’t think the person will read it but they were wrong, and well lets just say thing go downhill from there…
i agree w/ the conclusion that you’ve come for the most part, but AIM is still useful and fun, and so are blogs, you just have be careful on how you use them and how you interprut things.

Haha.. well u know me i tend to disagree with you alot. and again i do. converse aren’t as big at other schools as they are at our school. for them its all about skate shoes and most of them arent even skate boarders. i am sorry but if u dont like converse u might as well not like skate shoes or heels or flip-flops! i mean come on shoes are always fads and who cares if u like them wear them. i totally agree with alex in that i think that personality is the thing that makes u originally. and clothes i buy what i can if money is tight i dont shop i mean i can make clothes if i have to. clothes are like computer parts to some ppl or animals or horses or instruments its just what a person is into. like me i am into fashion and one of my many dream jobs has always been fashion designer/interior decorator. some ppl cant afford hollister but those who can is it really that bad if they do? i mean its there situation that allows them. but something that has been bothering me is Paris Hilton Gah i hate her image she portrays and so many ppl look up to her. spencer if u are going to go into images like u have at least talk about her. and phone.. hmm my time on phone is totally taken up by my moms job. my excuse for aim plus for me its free well basically.. i mean we would be paying for internet if i wasnt even on it. and besides being “original” there is no such thing anyways but taking care if ur body is my pet peeve.

Katie I agree with a lot of that. I am just playing the “Devil’s advocate” as they would say. I think lot’s of these things are great, but that it shouldn’t be just because someone cool wears them or uses it etc. It should be your own originality. You know what, a proven fact as of right now is that over half of all American Teenagers owns an Ipod. Is that original? I don’t think so. Also AIM is great, but you just have to be careful on it and use it wisely. Same with email. Just think twice about all your choices.
